Today you’ll step back in time to the era of the Victorian gold rush. First you’ll head out over the West Gate Bridge, en route to the beautiful town of Ballarat. History comes to life as you pan for gold, meet characters in period costume and ride an old-fashioned stagecoach. Sit back and relax with entertainment introducing you to Sovereign Hill, a wonderful outdoor museum exhibiting in ‘real life’ the story of Australia’s gold rush history. Make an upgrade to an optional tour to visit the Ballarat Wildlife Park where you have the chance to see some of Australia's native animals. ( tickets at own expense)

Your Gold Trail adventure begins with early morning pickup from our convenient pick-up points in a comfortable and air-conditioned bus/coach ,on a 1.5 hours journey to the town of Ballarat
As you arrive in Ballarat you’ll come to understand the historical significance of this town.Venture into Ballarat and Sovereign Hill, Australia’s foremost outdoor museum, Sovereign Hill re-creates Ballarat’s first ten years after the discovery of gold in 1851 when thousands of international adventurers rushed to the Australian goldfields in search of fortune.
Try your luck at panning for gold where there are diggers on hand to show you the tricks used to strike it rich, and then you can have a go and try your own luck. Then we visit The Gold Museum extends Sovereign Hill's story of Ballarat as a majestic provincial city built on the wealth of the 1850's gold rush. This surprisingly interesting museum houses a large collection of gold nuggets found at Ballarat.
Wander through Main Street where there are working shops, hotels and a theatre – all based on original Ballarat businesses. Visitors are able to watch goldfields tradespeople in action and take a ride around the township in a horse-drawn coach (at own expense).You can also visit a number of operational workshops and witness demonstrations of blacksmithing.
Then visit Ballarat Wildlife Park ,with the chance to see some of Australia's most famous native animals.From koalas, wombats, and a variety of reptiles ranging from snakes to lizards and even a giant tortoise. We leave this enchanting island and enjoy a slow drive back towards Melbourne when the day trip is over.
